Oil filter, also known as oil grid. It is used to remove dust, metal particles, carbon deposits and soot particles in the engine oil and protect the engine. The oil filter can be divided into full flow type and split flow type. The full-flow filter is connected in series between the oil pump and the main oil passage, which can filter out all lubricating oil entering the main oil passage. The shunt filter is connected in parallel with the main oil circuit, and only part of the lubricating oil is extracted from the filter oil pump. During engine operation, metal debris, dust, carbon oxide deposits under high temperature, colloidal deposits and water are constantly mixed with lubricating oil. The function of the oil filter is to remove these mechanical impurities and colloids, keep the lubricating oil clean and extend its service life. The oil filter shall have the characteristics of strong filtering capacity, small flow resistance and long service life. Generally, several filters with different filtering capabilities are installed in the lubrication system, namely, oil collector, coarse filter and fine filter, which are respectively connected in parallel or in series in the main oil passage (the series filter and the main oil passage are called full-flow filter. When the engine is working, all the lubricating oil is filtered through the filter; the parallel filter is called parallel filter). The primary filter is connected in series in the main oil channel and is of full flow type; The fine filter is shunted in parallel in the main oil passage. Modern automobile engines are generally equipped with only one filter and one full-flow oil filter.
