Product Description
The purpose of the crankshaft position sensor is to determine the position of the crankshaft, i.e. the crankshaft angle of rotation and the engine speed. It usually works together with the camshaft position sensor - to determine the basic ignition moment. We all know that the engine starts to ignite at the end of the compression stroke, so how does the engine computer know which cylinder is due for ignition? It is calculated by the signals from the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor, which can tell which cylinder piston is in the upper stop, and which cylinder piston is in the compression stroke by the camshaft position sensor. In this way, the engine computer knows when to give the ignition to which cylinder. The crankshaft position sensor is usually installed at the front end of the crankshaft (at the pulley) at the rear end of the crankshaft near the large flywheel or in the middle of the crankshaft, and also in the distributor in early models, and is one of the most important sensors in the control system. Its role are: detection of engine speed, so also known as speed sensor; detection of piston upper stop position, so also known as the upper stop sensor, including detection of the upper stop signal used to control the ignition of each cylinder, the first cylinder upper stop signal used to control the sequence of fuel injection.
