The so-called 'eating tires' refers to abnormal wear and tear on a certain part of the tire, resulting in a significant reduction in its lifespan, which not only increases operating costs but may also cause safety hazards such as tire blowouts. Today we will talk about how to identify and prevent the problem of "eating tires" through daily observation and maintenance, so that cardholders can save money and worry.
Several major signals for judging fetal eating
1、 Observe the shape of wear and tear
Rapid wear in the middle: If there is severe wear in the middle of the tire tread, it may be caused by high tire pressure.
Wear on both sides or one side: When the tire pressure is insufficient or overloaded, the wear on both sides of the tire will accelerate; If there is severe wear on one side, it may be due to inaccurate front wheel alignment (such as toe in or camber deviation).
S-shaped "or wavy wear: commonly seen on steering wheels, may be due to deformation of the steel rim, out of roundness of the brake hub, or loose chassis components.
2、 Listen for abnormal noise, check for looseness
If you hear a "click" sound near the tires while driving, especially when braking or bumping, it may be due to loose wheel hub screws or worn suspension components, and you need to check immediately.
3、 Measure temperature
After parking, lightly touch the surface of the tire with your hand. If a certain area is noticeably hot, it indicates abnormal friction in that area, which may be a problem with the brake cylinder or axle bearings.
How to prevent eating fetuses
1、 Check tire pressure
Excessive tire pressure can cause wear in the middle, while insufficient pressure can accelerate wear on both sides and even lead to tire blowouts. It is recommended to regularly check tire pressure. Cardholders can install tire pressure monitoring devices for real-time monitoring, which is more worry free.
2、 Reject overloading and balance loading
As is well known, overloading can shorten the lifespan of tires. When loading, pay attention to even distribution and avoid "top heavy, bottom light" or one-sided overweight, otherwise the tire will be under excessive pressure locally, which will exacerbate wear.
3、 Gentle driving, less sudden braking
Rushing, accelerating or braking suddenly will instantly increase tire friction. When encountering bumpy roads, try to slow down and avoid crushing sharp stones or metal debris.
Although eating fetuses is common, it is by no means "unsolvable". As long as cardholders develop the habit of "checking and adjusting frequently", combined with scientific driving methods, they can make the tires run tens of thousands of kilometers more and save real money.
